Variety of Teas

Tea comes in a variety of forms and grades including black tea, green tea, oolong tea, white tea, and wellness blends. The types of Tea available in India include Black Tea, Green Tea, White Tea, Oolong Tea, and other Specialty Teas.

Studying the grades of black tea involves detailing the different categories within both the orthodox and CTC (crush, tear, curl) processing methods, as well as taking account of the significance of these grades in terms of quality, flavor, and market value.

Types of Black Tea:

1. Orthodox Black Tea Grades:

o FTGFOP (Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe):

Considered the highest quality.

Composed of the finest tips of the tea leaves.

Rich flavor and delicate aroma.

o TGFOP (Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe):

High-quality leaves with a high proportion of tips.

Known for its golden color and rich flavor.

o GFOP (Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe):

Slightly larger leaves than TGFOP, but still high quality.

Contains golden tips and has a bright flavor.

o FOP (Flowery Orange Pekoe):

Good quality with fewer tips.

Produces a flavorful and aromatic brew.

o OP (Orange Pekoe):

Standard grade with whole leaves.

Balanced flavor, used in various blends.

2. CTC Black Tea Grades:

o BP (Broken Pekoe):

Medium-sized granules.

Strong and robust flavor, commonly used in blends.

o BOP (Broken Orange Pekoe):

Smaller granules than BP.

Bold flavor, often used in tea bags.

o OF (Orange Fannings):

Finer particles, used in tea bags.

Quick brewing with a strong taste.

o PD (Pekoe Dust):

Fine dust particles.

Used in tea bags for a fast, strong brew.

These tea varieties in turn are served to customers in a range of flavors including Earl Grey, Cardamom, Ginger, Apple Cinnamon, Matcha, Kadak chai, etc. to name a few.
